Description: Dr. Drew Ash taught The History of Math as a low residency course in the Spring of 2018. One of the main projects the students did during the course was interview different mathematicians to create a podcast with a collection of mathematicians’ stories. The project was an opportunity to interview a mathematician, not currently at Davidson College, to understand how they were able to become a professional mathematician, how outside factors, cultural, economic, domestic, affected their decisions and careers, and explore a multitude of backgrounds that can lead to someone earning a PhD.
